Meet Our Surgeon
Serapio Vela, MD - General Surgery
Dr. Vela graduated from the University of Houston before attending the University Of Texas School Of Public Health where he received
his Master of Public Health, then received his medical degree at the University of Monterrey, Mexico. He completed his internship and residency at the
Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1987.
While at the University of Monterrey, Vela completed research with Dr. Luis B. Garcia entitled, “Effects of Tagamet on Coronary Artery
Blood Flow.”
Vela is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association. He has one publication, “Ganglioneuroma of
the Sacrum,” authored with several other physicians and one upcoming publication, “Removal of Foreign Object from Skull,” authored with Dr. Hernando Torres.
Vela is licensed to practice medicine in New York, Illinois and Texas.
